Last week our District Nutrition Specialist came to school and shared with us the parts of plants that we eat. Sometimes we eat the leaves, sometimes the roots. Other times we like to eat the flowers and even the seeds. The children sampled some spinach and many liked it. Mr. Smith also brought a coconut to explore. We had read a story about coconuts so we knew they were seeds. We cracked it open and sampled the coconut milk inside. We even ate the entire flesh of the coconut. It was delicious!
We eat flowers of broccoli and cauliflower. |
We eat the stems of celery and the leaves of cabbage and lettuce. |
It takes a hammer to open a coconut. |
