During our Center time we made glitter bottles. We filled the bottle half full with water then mixed two colors to create a new color. Many, many children chose to make purple, but there was a couple of green and one orange. We added vegetable oil as a second layer and then a teaspoon of glitter. Put on the lid and shake away. This mixture layers quickly into oil and water and is quite fun to watch. When we finished each child created a page for our new book about glitter bottles. They had to tell which two colors they mixed and what color resulted.

I love your glitter bottle idea! It seems like a mix between snow globes and lava lamps!
