Watch Our Garden Grown

We are learning about plants and gardens in class.  This week we decided to empty the dried corn and salt out of the science table and plant a classroom garden in it instead.  We took the science table outside and filled it with potting soil, added the plants and water and our garden has taken flight!

We are growing tomatoes, green beans, bell peppers, egg plant and lima beans.  We started the lima beans from seeds and we were shocked to discover sprouts today.  It has only been 5 days since we planted them.  I wonder how many sprouts we will have when we return to class on Monday morning.

We also started growing some seeds in zipper bags on Thursday.  We want to be able to see the roots begin growing and then see the stems and leaves form.  The plant life cycle is very exciting to watch.

We brought our garden indoors for the weekend.  We aren't sure what the weather will do and I don't want the garden to die while we are home.

This is one of the lima bean sprouts we discovered in our garden today.  I wonder how many we will have on Monday morning?  Each child planted a seed in the garden.
